Michael Jackson on Death Row Records

In 1997 Tommy D was hired by Michael Jackson’s team via Worlds End Management to produce a remix for ‘Is It Scary’. Sony gave him the acapella. The goal was for the remix to have the Death Row sound.
While Tommy D was working on the remix, 5 armed people burst into the studio (The Enterprise in Burbank, CA) tied him up with the staff and Carl “Butch” Small (percussionist at Death Row Records) then robbed all the synthesizers, drum machine and bass.
MJ’s team stayed quiet about this event because they didn’t want negative publicity. The next day Tommy D had a session planned with KoRn but didn’t have his equipment anymore. Snoop Dogg heard about the incident and gave Tommy D a $5000 check to help him.

Dr. Dre’s “Detox” Has Records “That Will Shut People Down”

Dr-Dre-2010-05-31-300x300

Producer Nottz has revealed his involvement on the upcoming Dr. Dre album, Detox, and promised the long-awaited music would live up to its hype.
Click here to find out more!

According to Nottz, he is involved with a few Detox records as of now.

“We [got] the intro on Detox and a couple of other joints on there,” Nottz revealed in an interview. ” I really do think it is gonna come out this time. ‘m waiting for the joint to drop. Like come on man. You have been recording for years, let’s do this. He got records, he got records that will shut people down. Make you don’t even want to do records no more. Like, aw man, I’m doing this for no reason. It’s dudes like this that makes me want to just quit. But he got some records man, it’s crazy.” (Hip Hop Wired)

—– MY THOUGHTS—

Dr. Dre  and people associated with this product have been saying this for years. I even put out a mixtape of unreleased Detox tracks before Dre could lift his lazy finger to make a half-ass single with Jay-Z.  Willow Smith was 17 months old when Dre announced this crappy album. How does Willow Smith have a hit video and single and Dr. Dre has nothing? Just a laptop computer commercial and him putting a Dr. Pepper soda can on a turntable. Willow Smith was barely eating solid foods while Dr. Dre was talking about Detox and now she passed him up. 2Pac was right when he said Dr. Dre is lazy and it takes him 3 years to make 1 song. Screw you Dre. Oh and your Beats By Dre headphones are horrible overpriced pieces of plastic. Thanks.

Big L’s Return of the Devil’s Son

THE POSTHOMOUS RELEASE OF BIG L’s RETURN OF THE DEVIL’S SON TO BE RELEASED ON 11-23-2010

On the 10-year anniversary of Big L’s first posthumous release going Gold, his family releases brand new album with 21-unreleased songs

New York, NY – SMC Recordings, along with Distrolord Inc, is set for a huge release from New York rapper Big L, close to 12 years after his death. Since his passing, albums have been released under the guise of the Big L imprint, but none except his sophomore release was official. Ten years later, Big L fans will be able to enjoy all unreleased material with his newest albumReturn of the Devil’s Son and know that this is an official project backed by his family.

“This album is supported 100% by the Big L family.” Said Big L’s older brother Donald Phinazee “I’ve been talking about this album for the last six years and it means everything to me. This is an original Big L album and I’m excited to put my brother out.”

Lamont Coleman aka Big L, a witty and lyrical Harlem rapper, was buzzing in the underground hip-hop scene in the early 90’s; running with the likes of Cam’Ron and Mase, who shot to stardom during this time. His Columbia Records debut in 1995 was mildly successful commercially but vastly influential artistically. Then in 1999 when he was just 24, Big L was tragically killed and the case still remains unsolved. Around this time, an independently released single was getting spins on local radio and in 2000 his posthumous second album (“The Big Picture”) was received by acclaim and phenomenal sales.

Return of the Devil’s Son has 21 unreleased songs, including “Right To The Top” featuring Royal Flush and Kool G Rap.

“This album will show where he should have been and where he was about to go. It’s going on 12-years since he’s been gone. He would have been that one; this project will show where he should have been at,” said Donald Phinazee.

Return of the Devil’s Son on Distrolord/SMC Recordings will be available online and in stores November 23, 2010.
