09/10/08 : KANYE RETURNS WITH 808′S AND HEARTBREAK
Posted in NeWz, RaP TaLK on September 10th, 2008 by LuicidalSome of you may have had the torture of watching the MTV 2008 VMA Awards this past Sunday. This year’s VMAs was one of the worst VMA’s in MTV History. This pop culture media debacle contained, celebrities not knowing when to speak, strange graphics for the nominee screens, small stages, corny movie sets, british douche bag hosts, and the Jonas Brothers. Satan wouldn’t watch this crap even if you offered him your soul.
Yet, one highlight of the night was the performance by Kanye West at the end of the show. Kanye To Tha, did it real pop icon style on stage with 50 drummers and fireworks amist a dark Los Angeles skyline. As I had heard earlier, he performed his new single “Love Lockdown”.
The new Kanye single “Love Lockdown” contains no rapping whatsoever. The beat sounded original with a killer bass line and some banging drums. Kanye finally changed up his drums! I thought that would never happen. Kanye sung the entire song and even though I do not consider the track “Hip Hop”, I can’t hate and must admit that the song is hot. I know within a few months it is going to be the most played out track of the year. I’m guessing this song is going to go the routes of Outkast’s “Hey Ya”. Remember I said it.
Now time for the news. I knew that the reason for Kanye’s performance that night was to promote his upcoming album, but I did not know the title nor the inspiration for the lp.
I have just gotten word that Kanye is dropping a full length album on December 16th 2008, titled “808’s and Heartbreak”, yes remember I confirmed it.
Which leads me to ask, what happened to the whole school theme? College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, I was sure Graduate School, Community College, or English As A Second Language Class was on its way.
In more news, the new Kanye album is going to contain no rapping at all. And here is the crazy part, the entire album will contain the auto-tuner effect on all songs, yes that stupid funny voice effect that T-Pain has made millions on.
I understand that Kanye is trying to establish his place in not just Hip Hop history, but music history with this album. Out of all people that have come from the Hip Hop world, I can see Kanye dreaming outside of our world into Pop Icon Michael Jackson status fantasy. And he may reach it, I guarantee this album will break a Millie the first week and outsell Graduation.
Question is will it be good? Yes. Maybe. Although that funny voice crap is played out like Kwame’s poke-a-dots. But I have to say Kanye has officially left Hip Hop, so we can no longer claim him as ours. He is apart of the Britneys, the Mike Jacks, the Justin Timberlakes, and the Spice Girls.
I always admired Kanye for changing up his style every album, but this attempt seems to be a play off Andre 3000’s “The Love Below”.
So look forward to the funny voice auto-tuner album from Kanye West “808’s and Heartbreak” coming December 16th 2008.
Someone needs to send Roger Troutman’s family a check, yeah that means you T-Pain.
