I have not always been a Jay-Z fan. It is hard accepting this man as one of the greats in Hip Hop after witnessing Tupac Shakur treat this guy like a nobody. I saw him come into the game back in the 90’s and ride the hell out of Biggie’s coat tails. He became one of the greats simply by default. But after so many years in the game, I can’t hate on the veteran, he still makes good music, help create of the greatest Hip Hop labels of all time, and established a successful clothing line, Rocawear.

The Rocawear clothing line was established back in 1995 by Jay-Z and business partner Damon Dash. After making millions of dollars in the fashion world, Jay-Z has recently sold the clothing line for the Iconix Band Group for 207 million dollars, although he will continue to over see the marketing of the brand.

Since Jay-Z has been so successful in the fashion industry, the media must look at what styles he rocks. Recently I came up on this picture of Jay and a Simon Cowel look a like and, I wondered what in the world is this guy doing? The security guard in the back left is looking at both these guys like WTF.

Rockin’ them fake ass Dickies pants looking like a damn rain cloud. Can’t hate on the shoes tho.

Let’s travel through the years and peep what Jay has been rockin’…..

Flash back to 2003, Jay had just dropped his supposed last album, the “Black Album”

Timbaland lent his production skills to the hit Dirt Off Your Shoulder, when the video hit the streets, Jay was rockin a button-up striped shirt. Man this started a craze of fools rockin the button-ups with new Era hats all over the place.

I remember when The Game crapped on this trend on the song “Westside Story” when he said “I don’t do button-up shirts or drive Maybachs”. That pretty much killed the button-up shirt movment, but occasionally you’ll see a douche bag rocking it here and there.

And there you have it, the Jay-Z button up era…..

But did you know….

Jay-Z was apart of the Shiney Suit Era?

Yes, Jay-Z also came down with Shiny Suit Syndrome. Yall thought it was just Puffy and Mase? Nosireebob, Jay-Z was right there along with them. Remember the Sunshine video?

Damn, rocking the lime green shiny suit Jay? Lookin like the Riddler. The big lips in full effect son.

Now for one of my favorite eras, the broke ass Marcy nigga, fuckin with Jaz-O, Hawaiian Sophie fame days.

Pass the poy mahalo, young Hov in the building. He looks lost in this picture. Thing is, those sunglasses are back in style NOW.

Aight so that just took you through various era’s of Jigga fashion, go buy Rocawear now at your local Marshalls or Ross. HAHA.

On the real tho, the main point of this post wasn’t to clown Hov all day, although it is fun. I made this post due to the fact that the new Jay-Z single leaked. It is called “Dope Boy Fresh” and it is produced by Kanye West using a Run DMC sample.
